Recruiting Leadership

We are currently recruiting leaders for our Royal Ranger program. These are positions that will offer the opportunity for youth ministry training. Our goal is to enlist leaders that have the following traits:
  • Are 21 years of age or older? (Lieutenant Commanders must be 18 or older.)
  • Will they take leadership training?
  • Do they cooperate with the program of the church?
  • Do they command the respect of other leaders?
  • Are they willing to accept responsibility?
  • Do they possess good judgment?
  • Are they able to lead and delegate authority?
  • Do they enjoy working with boys?
  • Are their habits above reproach?
  • Are they loyal to the church?
  • Are they born again Christians, well grounded in the Word of God? Internship programs are available for those interested that do not meet this standard.

The following positions are available for training and acceptance.
Outpost Council
The main objective of the Outpost Council is to assist and support the commanders with their ministry to boys. The promote Royal Rangers in the church and community. They provide facilities and the financial support necessary to run an effective outpost.
Positions available:
Advancement Coordinator-arranges for the boys to receive immediate recognition for their advancements. They work closely with commanders to plan and carry out Councils of Achievement. They may also serve as chairman of these ceremonies. (a woman can hold this position)
Equipment & Camping Coordinator-checks regularly with the senior commander to see if the outpost has adequate equipment. If equipment is needed, he submits suggestions for securing the needed items to the Outpost Council for approval. He assists the commanders in arranging transportation, supplies, and equipment for any event. He also stores, secures and maintains the outpost equipment.
Promotion & Publicity Coordinator-makes the Royal Rangers ministry visible to the boys, parents, church at large, and community. They do this through newspapers, church bulletins, flyers, and other means. They plan ways to increase membership through promotions such as enrollment campaigns. They assist with permission forms, flyers for events, and a web site. (a woman can hold this position)
Training Coordinator-keeps track of leadership training that leaders have taken and will need. They forecast and arrange for training need for the leaders. They are the lead for leadership recruiting. They also arrange for character building guests to speak to the boys at meetings. These are 20min presentations to build interest and adventure into the weekly meetings. (a woman can hold this position)
Digital Information Coordinator-maintains the Royal Ranger web page for the outpost, which is the information link to the outpost. They assist with graphics and information pamphlets and computer related media needed. This person should be very comfortable with Twitter, Facebook and other information media. (a woman can hold this position)
We have several Commander and Lt. Commander positions available.
Commander-leads the activities of his group by providing direction for all of the leaders responsible for conducting meeting, camp outs, projects, and assemblies for the patrols. He will continue to develop his own skills so he can assist the Rangers in their advancements. He works with the other commanders that make up the entire Royal Rangers outpost.
Lt. Commander-assists his commander in the group and may lead activities or parts of the weekly meeting. If the commander is absent, he takes charge.   Several of these positions are available. There are also opportunities to serve to assist the outpost council positions.
Jr. Commander-assists his commander in the group and may lead activities or parts of the weekly meeting. Jr. Commanders are usually under 18 years of age and are Expedition Rangers that want an extra leadership responsibility. (there are several of these positions available) (we have some of these positions that can be held by a woman)
Outpost Chaplain-is the spiritual counselor and conducts devotionals during outpost gatherings. A credentialed minister often holds this position (credentials are not required). We have several of these positions available (some of the positions can be held by a woman).
Men’s Honorbound Representatives

Building a Leadership Team
All leadership positions will be asked to complete the Royal Ranger Basic course which is an 8 hr. training on youth ministry. Training must be completed before you will be appointed to a position.
All applicants will have to pay a $10.00 fee for a background check that is refundable if you are appointed to a position.
Our strategy is to share the ministry so all qualified commanders will be asked to step in from time to time (usually on a voluntary basis) to help with outings, day camps and other activities. This will eliminate a few spending so much time with the program that they reach burnout. This will also allow opportunities for others to participate.
Normal estimated time involved in these positions will be:
  • 8 hrs. Youth Ministry Training
  • 2 hrs a week in prayer and personal devotion
  • 2 hrs a week in planning
  • 2 to 4 hrs a week in execution

If you pass up this opportunity to serve the blessings you will pass up are enormous. These kids grow up and grow on you.
